Haul: Lilly Pulitzer For Target

Happy Spring! I am sure that many have heard about the Lilly Pulitzer for Target collaboration that came out today. It has already been covered on news channels and items from the collection can be found for outrageous prices on ebay. This collaboration was different from past collaborations that Target has had with other designers because of the mixed opinions. While I understand why many people were strongly against this collection, I decided that I was okay with it. The items were shown on Target's website a few weeks ago, and I was immediately convinced that I had to get my hands on at least one piece from the collection; to say the least, I fell in love.

This morning I woke up extra early to make it to Target. I wasn't sure what to expect, I hoped there would not be a long line, but to be safe I got to Target at 7:30am. My mom and I were the second ones in line. I thought standing in line was pointless and by 7:45 I was sure no one was coming, I thought we had it made. Then suddenly cars and cars kept arriving into the target parking lot, and the line grew. Luckily the line was not out of control and were were second in line. So, I was extremely happy with the amount of items that I was able to get.

I was able to get:

  1. A shift dress
  2. two scarves
  3. a makeup bag
  4. shorts
  5. flipflops
  6. a nail filer
  7. a giraffe bottle opener (not pictured)
For the most part I was able to get everything that I wanted. I do not want to complain about the things I didn't get because I realize how lucky I am to have been able to get my hands on items from this collection. I was shocked by the turnout and attention that this collection received. However, looking back now I completely understand why.

For one, the quality of these products is AMAZING, all of the items could have been priced higher. I am extremely happy with the quality and the prices. The prints and all items are beautiful and fun. I realize that Lilly Pulitzer is categorized into a certain style and it may not be loved by all, however for those who do like Lilly, this collection did not fall short of the regular priced designs. Third, the attention to detail is great. For example I am obsessed with the pineapple zipper on the back of my shift dress and the pink lining on the zipper as well.

This collection is fun and perfect for the next two seasons. I am not one to wake up early and go shopping, or even wait in lines for materialistic items. But in this case I am glad that I did. I am definitely a fan of Lilly Pulitzer. My everyday style is not exciting and I love that these pieces will be able to liven up my wardrobe.

Side note: My mom and I got matching dresses and flip flops. I'm in college and excited to match my mom. #I'mnotadork. She won't let me wear it on the same day that she does, she's crushing my dreams.

Did anyone else shop this collaboration? If so I'd love to know what you guys got.

I Want to Monogram it all

I had been eyeing monogrammed items for quite some time and finally made an order from Marley Lilly this past December.  I love my purchases and use them way too much.  I love monograms because they are classic and unique.  You can choose a font and be assured that the monogram will be unique to you (what are the odds that you will find someone with the same monogram- not too high).

What I ordered:

In navy blue with white embroidered monogram

In graphite heather with black embroidered monogram

and

Since I got these items I have worn them way too often.  These pieces are all so versatile and I find that they have been a great addition to my wardrobe.  The quality of these products is absolutely amazing and I know they will last a long time.  I can not wait to order more monogrammed items.  You can monogram almost anything that you want-- this is dangerous, I want my monogram on everything!

One of my favorite ways to style my vest!

A Classic: L.L. Bean Boots

Winter seams wonderful all through the holiday season and then we betray it as soon as the going gets tough in January and February.  Yeah, winter can be brutal but we can get through it with a few essentials, one of those being... BOOTS!

Bean Boots had been on my wish list for about two years and I finally got a pair this past November.  When I ordered them they were on back order and I was lucky to get them right before Winter.  Today they are still on back order which stinks, however it is awesome that they are in high demand because these boots are definitely worth it.

The quality of these boots is absolutely amazing, I know that they will last a long time.  These boots are also heavy duty and I'm not afraid to get dirty.  One of my favorite things about them is that they are made in America.  With so many items being imported it is awesome to know that the U.S. can make a quality product.  Bean Boots are incredibly comfortable, and have a great grip to prevent slipping.  They are not the most affordable boots on the market, however they are worth every penny. When you compare them to the amount of money that you are willing to spend on other brand boots, these come out on top.  They are are more durable than most boots and you would be surprised with how many outfits you can match Bean Boots with.

Winter is a great season for Bean Boots, however they can definitely be used throughout the year!

I have worn my Bean Boots almost everyday since I got them--obsessed!

My go-to jacket

Fall has been cut short.  The weather in Chicago this week has felt like the middle of winter; and, many parts of the country have already experienced snow!  But, I like to embrace every season and face any kind of weather.  I have found that one jacket in particular has been perfect for the sudden changes in weather.  So I must thank my navy blue quilted jacket!  I love quilted jackets because I find them to be stylish and classic.  They are not something trendy that will go out of style quickly.

I love my quilted jacket because it matches basically every outfit that I wear.  It also isn't too bulky, which has to be my favorite part about it.  If it is a more frigid day then it is also easy to just layer up with a quilted jacket.

So you gotta love Burberry for it's classic designs.  But, you can find similar quilted jackets at other places too!--And for a much more affordable price. I bought mine at H&M this past September and I am sure you can find one at many other stores this season.

I love how quilted jackets can be styled with many outfits.

They also look great on men!

In Defense of Uggs

Uggs, you either hate them, love them, or love to hate them. I personally {shamefully} love them. They are so comforting on a cold day and are perfect for any casual day. I will admit they are quite ugly and are not the most fashionable but dang are they comfy.

Sarah Jessica Parker has repeatedly worn Uggs in public, so I think it's safe to say there are acceptable

Uggs are pretty much 100% to wear on a casual day, cold days, while commuting, or while lounging. That being said, they are much unacceptable in these situations:
  • Work
  • Special Events
  • Interviews
  • Dates (specifically first dates, unless you're sledding or something, which is cool)
So when winter rolls around, don't be afraid to wear your Uggs[or Fuggs (Fake Uggs), whichever you prefer] because they aren't as horrible as everyone says they are. Usually the people that don't like them are the people that haven't tried them, so they don't understand what they are missing out on. You do you, in every aspect of life.

How do you feel about Uggs? Let me know below!

Have a great weekend! You know I will be wearing my Uggs ;)

Suit Up {For Winter}

I don't know if you guys have noticed, but Zara is killing it this season. Maybe it's because I don't have time to check any other stores website, but I am seriously loving their stuff right now. Today, I specifically want to focus on their outerwear and jackets. Fall is here and Winter is slowly going to be coming, so it's time to start thinking about those jackets. Of course you need a good mix of practical/sturdy jackets, going out/formal jackets, and light jackets for the remaining Fall days.

Not a Zara jacket but a good one

So let's get started with the good stuff...

Little Black Coat

Jeti Coat

Cute and Practical
Downright Practical

Going Out Jacket

Cape

Which one is your favorite? I think the cape is so cool! Make sure you suit up (Barney Stinson Voice) this winter!

Petite Moment: Dreaming of Purses

When fall roles around, I start dreaming about getting a new purse for the season. I am over the small, side satchels and finally feel like carrying a bigger purse. I especially love purses in fall colors like: burgundy, green, brown, and black. So when I was scrolling through the Zara website, I saw a few contenders that may be my new purse for the season(s) and I thought I'd share them with you...

The Perfect Standard Black Bag

A Bucket Bag in the Prettiest Shade of Green

A Tri-Colored Structured Bag, Matches with Everything

A Purse that Doubles as a Fashionable Backpack

Which one is your favorite? Personally, I am leaning towards the first black bag!

Borrowing From The Military

This fall season I have been loving my green military jacket.  I had never realized how a green jacket could be a basic.  I have been wearing it everyday this past week and have learned that it matches just about everything.  I definitely recommend adding a military jacket to your wardrobe if you haven't already.  Look at the pictures below for proof that you can rock this jacket everyday!

Fashion Icon: Sarah Jessica Parker

Ya loved her in Sex and the City, Ya loved her at the Met Ball, and Ya can love her every other day of the year too!  Sarah Jessica Parker quickly became a fashion icon from all of her creative outfits in Sex and the City.  Lucky for us her impeccable taste in fashion did not stop once the show came to and end.  She is stunning on red carpets and is chic and laid back walking through the streets of New York on her days off.  Sarah Jessica inspires me to take fashion risks.  She is a working woman with children and she still has fun with her clothes.  She doesn't take fashion too seriously and I think that is why she looks fabulous all the time.  Fashion should be fun and exciting.  It should not bring us stress and we should be confident in the clothes that we wear.

We all can't have designer clothes like Sarah Jessica, but we can allow her confidence and desire to enjoy fashion rub off on us!

Mixing colors doesn't have to be scary

Time Management

So you're probably thinking this post is going to be about time management and how important it is in college and all that good stuff, right? Well I'm sorry to inform you its not (even though time management is seriously important in surviving college). Today we are going to talking about managing time on watches.

Watches are seriously essential in college. Since a lot of classrooms may not have wall-clocks and pulling out your phone during class is rude, it makes it difficult to tell what time it is. Sure you should probably focus on the class and not the time, but does anyone really do that? Sometimes you just need to know the exact time. This is where watches come in! Having a watch has made my life so much easier because I can just check the time on there and it looks cute at the same time. You can seriously get any style you want: sporty, classic, over-sized, digital, bangle, and etc. The possibilities are endless!

Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Baker' in Rose Gold
This is the watch that I am currently(it's my only watch) using and loving! I received this for Christmas and didn't use it very often because I thought it was "too fancy" to wear to school, so I only used it on weekends if I went out. But when I got to college I saw a lot of people wearing watches and caught on that it was necessary to have one, so now I wear it everyday! Investing in a designer watch is great but it is not the only option! I have seen so many cute and sturdy watches at Target that I may have to give them a try so I can have more than one watch option.

What do you think? Are watches a necessity or just another accessory? Let me know below!

Have a good week everyone!

Four Eyes

Ahh glasses...they are a burden that I have been carrying since the fifth grade. They are a burden that a lot of people I know carry, so why not lighten our load with cute glasses? Let's turn a negative into a positive!

Let's all just take a moment to appreciate how good Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks in glasses...
Right now my glasses are pretty mediocre, they are just your standard glasses so I don't love wearing them in public (so I just stick to my contacts). But I'm really looking into changing this because my eyes are always exhausted from my contacts. A website that I usually go to for trendy or more updated glasses is Warby Parker. They have so many options to satisfy everyones need and the coolest thing is that since they are an online store, you can have a 5 day at home trial with 5 different pairs of glasses! I have tried this several (3) times but have not found the right pair for me. But they have released so many new collections recently so I might have to place another order soon! I'll let you know how that goes! Also, WP does have a couple of boutiques in different cities if you want to go try on all of the different glasses in person, check their website to see if they have one in your city! I thought I'd share with you some of my favorites from Warby Parker (even if some of them didn't work for me).

Welty in Plum Marblewood

Dale in Whiskey Tortoise

Mallory in Blue Marblewood

Theo in Whiskey Tortoise

Do you wear glasses? Do you own glasses that you are proud to wear out in public? Let me know in the comments below where you like your glasses from!
