The blog post I promised would be up, or something like that.

My explanation for this short and random blog post:
So today I planned on posting something, anything, but something. I had two great ideas and started both, but they both turned out to be more complex, they will go up within the next week or two, but not today. I found that I got really into the posts and they were becoming longer than I planned and needed to be proof read. And tonight I do not have time to write a long post as well as edit it all in one sitting. I will make time to blog, yet in order to make time I realized that I have to schedule things out more and work little by little. My blog posts will not be well done if I rush them.

At least I did't waste my day:
But on the other hand I wanted to update everyone with how my day went. I was more productive than usual and instead of spending time on social media all day, I actually completed an assignment and felt that I worked really hard on it. I was also able to concentrate on it with out distractions. I read the WSJ, made a smoothie (haven't done this in months,) and I met for coffee with a friend. These are things I usually don't have time for. But I'm learning to make time!

Last tid bit:
I have been obsessed with Amos Lee's song Learned A Lot. I'm inserting it below, I hope you enjoy it too. I came across this song on The Bachelor-- I can't believe I just admitted that I watch that.

Baby steps, I can't become a different person in one day.

In the spur of the moment, I Promise!

Oh goodness, I was so proud of how usual the blog posts were, and so disappointed when they stopped. I got "busy" but the truth is that I should have made time. I let social media control me, I want to stop using it so much, I want to be a more productive person. I promise that I will start blogging again, about whatever I want and I will keep blogging even if this blog does not get too many readers. But I will do this for myself. I'm going to do better, I Promise. I will keep up with this blog, I Promise.

So here's to me sticking to something and being consistent. Because, I know that I can do better and if I don't force myself to do better, who else will?

Who knows what I'll post tomorrow, but something WILL be up!

I'm a Survivor: First Semester Update

Destiny's Child always knew what to say!
Well hello there!

I know, I know long time no speak. I am so sorry for that! But the holidays and those lovely things called finals got the best of me. After a hectic 3 weeks of doing work, studying, and losing sleep, I am finally done with my first semester of college. Isn't that crazy? I am home for the holidays as a new person, maybe not completely but different in some aspects. I have learned so much about life and myself in these few short months (sounds so cheesy but is true). I never thought I would be having the college experience and here are the factors that have helped me through this...

1. The People I Have Met

I can honestly say that the type of people you surround yourself for most of your time in college define the experience you will have. I have been fortunate enough to meet people and hang out with amazing people and have made some (hopefully) life-long friends. My friend group and I study, party, lounge, eat, and generally have a good time together. My closest friend group all live in the same dorm building as I do, so its super convenient because they are only a few doors or floors down from me. Even though we usually mess around and have a good time together, we do get all of work done in the library with minimal distractions. You need these kind of friends in your life, people who you can have fun with but will also understand and push you to do your work.

2. Self-Control

I knew going into college that I was going to be faced with temptation. Temptation to go out, to watch a movie, to not do work, to eat tons of junk food and to skip class and sleep in. Now I am not saying I successfully avoided all forms of temptation, but I think I managed pretty well and controlled myself when appropriate. They say that time management is essential in college and this is true. It is very easy to lose track of time and get distracted, but if you plan out what you need to do and when you need to do it, life should become a little easier. PLANNERS ARE LIFE.

3. Find a Good Study/Homework Spot(s)

This semester, especially in the beginning, I was a nomad when it came to my study spots. I travelled from libraries to study rooms in search for the right place. And what I found out (at least for myself) is that there is not one lone study spot that is going to work. If I need complete silence I go by myself to one of the libraries, if I am studying with friends and don't mind being distracted I go to another library, if I don't feel like leaving my dorm building I go to a lounge and if I am doing work between classes, I go to the Union. I have different spots for different situations and it keeps things interesting to have a change of scenery.

Although there are many other factors that helped me survive this semester (such as peanut butter and releasing anger/stress at the gym) these are the main ones that helped me survive academically and socially. Hopefully this next semester I can one up myself and focus even harder.

Also, I am so sorry I have not blogged during my winter break! I have been busy with the holidays, visiting friends and family and getting some rest. Also I have been catching up with my good friend, Netflix (shoutout to Gilmore Girls and Friends). But I will be blogging in these days before I go back to school and during school!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

December on the Beach with Vogue

Happy New Year!! I have been meaning to put up some blog posts in the past weeks but I have been so busy and I am finally able to put up a quick post today.  I was in Puerto Vallarta about a week and a half ago and I thought that today I would share that small trip with you all.

I had a great time at the beach.  It was nice to get warm weather in the middle of winter.  I sat under the sun the entire time that I was there because I really wanted to get tan.  Safe to say that I did get some color!  I am definitely not looking forward to the freezing weather that I will return to on Sunday night.

One of my favorite things that I did while on vacation was drink fresh coconut water.  I love everything coconut and I had never drank water right out of the coconut.  There were many coconut vendors on the beach.  It was really cool to see them open the coconut right in front of me, then they would come back and take out the coconut meat so I could eat it-- may I say it was delicious!

I am so thankful for the vacation that I was able to take with my family this winter break.  When I went to Cancun this past June I fell in love with the ocean.  I love going to the beach and cannot wait to return.  The beach is a great place to really relax.  I love looking out to the ocean, it allows me to forget about my everyday worries like school and work.  We all need a break some times.

After my last few trips to beautiful beaches I have found that this quote is true.  Sometimes we have to let out emotions out, other times we have to work hard, and if not sometimes we just have to get away.

Plans for Winter Break

So apparently, I have made it through my first trimester of college, and I have no idea how.  I took my last final this morning and am now incredibly sad that I am on winter break--What? I actually really like college and I am going to miss it for the next six weeks that I have off.  But, I will also take advantage of all of this time.

Looking ahead to these three few weeks.

  • I have a job now, so I will be trying to work a lot so that I can save up some cash money!
  • I will read a lot!! I am so disappointed in my lack of reading lately.
  • I will write--anything, just as long as I am being creative.
  • I will blog regularly--sorry I have been lacking in posts these past few weeks.
  • I will bake and or cook.
  • I will study/read/ prepare for my classes next trimester.
  • I will reorganize my room--things are a bit misplaced right now.
  • I will do christmasy things.
  • I will relax-- but not too much, I don't want to waste my time.
  • I will do yoga, even if it is simple and short, but so long as I am moving!
This winter I will also be going to Mexico for the Holidays.  I will be there the last 2-3 weeks of my winter break.  I will be visiting family and also going to the beach (Puerto Vallarta).  I will make sure to take you along with me and show you my adventures.

I have made a list of things that I want to do because I do not want to waste my time.  I want to try and get some things done over break.  I thought the best way for me to do this was to start by writing it down and being honest with myself and the things that I can actually accomplish.  The list above is made up of what I truly hope to accomplish.  For some it may seem simple, but for me, its small things like this that will keep me from sleeping and watching Netflix all day.

Petite Moment: I Voted!!

Hey! I haven't posted in over a week... ahhh so upsetting!  I hope that you all find yourselves doing well!

Starting college has been great, and although it is not the "real world," it is a step closer.  Starting college has allowed me to feel more free and independent.  There are more responsibilities, but also more opportunities to have fun and enjoy life.

Voting is another great responsibility that I have encountered during my first year of college.  Today when I was at the polls I was excited and super happy.  When I was filling out my ballet, it finally hit me, that I am making a difference and contributing to society.  Voting is a simple task, yet, it is extremely important.  Voting today made me think about all the time I spent retaining facts about history and learning about our nations Democracy.  We learn as young children about our Nation, but we are left waiting until we are 18 to vote.  Today it felt great to not be a kid anymore and actually have the opportunity to have a say in the direction that our country is headed.

Dear College Students,
VOTE!  We are young and have a lot of time ahead of us to live in this country.  Let's start voicing our opinions now, for a better future.  Its crazy to think about how sheltered we were not too long ago, but I promise we are ready to vote.
p.s. So it might be too late to vote today, but next time --> make sure you vote!

Did anyone vote this year?  If it was your first time, how did it feel to vote?

Life Update

Holy cow, who am I? What is life? Why haven't I posted this entire week? College is why. I did not have any midterms this week so why have I been so busy, where does my time go? It goes to homework and other shenanigans. A typical day for me goes like this: wake up, get ready, go to class, come back to my room, take a nap, eat, go to other classes, come back, eat, do homework, shower, sleep. If I am lucky I can slip in a gym workout somewhere in there, writing blog posts, and its an especially good day if I can fit some Netflix in there(aka Gilmore Girls). But this week I have had time to do none of the extra things that I love. But it's finally FRIDAY.

So let's talk about some exciting things I am doing this weekend, shall we?

-Listen to Music

This is so random, but I have been obsessed with 90s R&B music, like its all I want to listen to these days. I have been particularly loving "Killing Me Softly" by The Fugees. I find it to be so relaxing and soothing, so I have been listening to that song on repeat.

The original version by Roberta Flack is also amazing, by the way.

-Watch Netflix(or catch up on your favorite TV shows)

You best believe I will be watching Netflix (in between studying, of course). I am currently watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix and it has been my life. I have never wanted to have blue eyes more than I do now because of Lorelai and Rory. I am also watching the current season of American Horror Story and am two episodes behind, so I must catch up on that.

-Cleaning and Organizing My Room

So maybe this isn't very exciting to most people but I am so pumped to clean my room. Whenever my room is organized and clean, I feel like I have my life together. So I will be thoroughly cleaning my room and re-organizing my drawers and closet.

-Get Halloween Costume

I am so excited for Halloween! I haven't celebrated Halloween since grammar school, so I am kind of pumped to actually dress up this year (I guess I was too cool for Halloween in high school). My friend from high school will be visiting my roommate and I for the weekend, so it will be a good (but always responsible) time. I will tell you guys about my costume later, I want to keep it a surprise! But I will tell you that is related to Spongebob ;)

So this is what I will be doing this weekend besides the boring things like homework and studying. I will let you guys know next week how many things I actually accomplish (hopefully everything!).

Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you going to be? Let me know below!

Petite Moment: The Time has Finally Come!

The moment we've all (okay, mostly me) been waiting for has finally come! I finally had my first Pumpkin Spice Latte. And it was everything I thought it would be and more!

I usually don't get whipped cream on it because I want to save myself those extra calories, but today I felt like indulging myself (treat yo self) and it was amazing. Also it doesn't hurt that me and my friend Adriana, not Audriana (Starbucks workers always misspell names) got the buy one get one deal for all of the fall drinks!

Do you like the PSL? Or do you like another fall drink? Let me know below!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
